Here is an effective and inexpensive DIY method that I tested on my own guitar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Preparation: why and when to act?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before doing any fret leveling or other work, it is essential to ensure that the frets are seated correctly. A poorly seated fret can cause playing and tone problems. In my case, the 16th and 17th frets were slightly raised on the ends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Necessary material<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here&#039;s what you&#039;ll need:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>A specialized clamp<\/strong> : I used a cabinet clamp. This type of tool allows you to apply precise pressure to the ends of the fret.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cyanoacrylate glue (Crazy Glue type)<\/strong> : Ideal for securely fixing frets.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>A protective screen<\/strong> : Furniture wax to prevent glue from oozing onto the fingerboard.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>A brush or cotton swab<\/strong> : For precise application of glue and wax.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>A \u201chomemade accelerator\u201d<\/strong> : Water mixed with a pinch of baking soda to speed up the drying time of the glue.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Steps of repair<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Identify problem frets<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Look closely at your neck to see which frets are raised. In my case, it was frets 16 and 17.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Protect the key<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mask the fretboard around the affected frets with masking tape or apply a thin coat of furniture wax. This prevents glue from oozing out and protects the guitar&#039;s finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Prepare the homemade accelerant<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a small container, mix a little water with a pinch of baking soda. This accelerator will set the glue almost instantly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Apply the glue<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Place a micro-drop of cyanoacrylate glue on the end of the raised fret. Be careful not to put too much to avoid overflowing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Fix the fret<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Use the clamp to apply firm but controlled pressure to the end of the fret. Hold the pressure for a few seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6. Speed up drying<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Using a brush, apply the homemade accelerator to the glue. This solidifies the joint in a few seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7. Check and clean<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once the glue has dried, gently release the clamp and inspect the fret to ensure it is secure. Clean up any glue spills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With a little patience and the right tools, it is entirely possible to fix this type of problem yourself.
