Sign <strong>Leo James<\/strong>, this kit promises a low-cost experience\u2014but is it really worth it? Let&#039;s unbox it together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udce6 Unboxing of the Leo James Strat kit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The kit arrives in just two days, <strong>very well packaged<\/strong>. When you open it, here is what you find:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ultra-light guitar body (probably softwood, possibly paulownia)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Handle already sanded, without finish<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Electronics almost completely pre-assembled<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assembly guide (no game instructions, despite an ad for lessons)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All necessary accessories (key, screws, buttons, wiring, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83e\udeb5 Wood: light but surprising<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the moment you take it in hand, <strong>the weight of the body is surprising<\/strong>. It may be <strong>the lightest guitar<\/strong> that I had in my hands! The wood is not poplar or alder \u2014 possibly paulownia \u2014 with <strong>an open grain<\/strong> but a completely correct appearance. The body looks raw, unsealed, which is both <strong>good news and bad news<\/strong> :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u2705 Good news: Penetrating stain will work well<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u274c Bad news: beware of humidity and deformation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udee0\ufe0f Neck and fingerboard analysis<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">THE <strong>handle is quite thin<\/strong>, with a touch that seems to be in <strong>Indian laurel<\/strong>, an affordable alternative to rosewood. The frets are installed correctly, without excessive snags, even if a <strong>small polishing touch-up<\/strong> would not be too much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please note:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sleeve fits snugly into body cavity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pre-drilled holes well aligned<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Small wood defect to be filled before finishing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83e\uddef Little surprise during the exam\u2026<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By manipulating the handle, <strong>I notice a slight curvature towards the rear<\/strong>. It&#039;s not catastrophic, but enough to hamper playability. Fortunately, the neck is equipped with a <strong>double action truss rod<\/strong>, which allowed me to <strong>quickly correct the curvature<\/strong>. However, when checking the flatness of the frets, I noticed that the <strong>frets 3 and 9 are slightly higher than the others<\/strong>. Leveling will therefore be necessary to avoid any buzz and ensure good playing comfort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83e\udde0 <strong>Guitovore Council<\/strong> : Even on a well-made kit, it is common to have some irregularities in the frets. Plan on a little finishing work for optimal results!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udf9b\ufe0f Electronic components: ready-to-assemble<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The real surprise here is that <strong>everything is already wired in quick connect<\/strong>. No soldering required, everything is plug-in. Never seen before at this price!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What we find:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Three single-coil pickups<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Miniature but functional potentiometers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Three-ply pickguard in good condition<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Guitar cable provided (very average quality \u2014 avoid!)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83e\udde0 <strong>Guitovore Tip<\/strong> A good guitar cable makes all the difference. Invest in a quality cable to preserve your highs and minimize interference!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83e\udde9 Accessories and hardware<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The kit contains everything needed for a complete assembly:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Tremolo <strong>ultra light<\/strong>, with thin zamac block<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adhesive copper tape for shielding (a very good point)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Very light mechanics (to be seen if they hold the tune)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Straplocks included (unexpected bonus!)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Belt, cable and tremolo bar<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udd27 First impressions: a surprisingly decent base<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I was leaving with some <strong>very low expectations<\/strong>, but this Leo James kit surprises me on several points. Yes, some elements are low-end (knobs, cable, mechanics), but:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>THE <strong>sleeve-body fit is excellent<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The wood is <strong>prettier than expected<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The editing seems <strong>simple and accessible to beginners<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt&#039;s a perfect project to get started on without breaking the bank.
